In the MKULTRA experiments, the CIA dosed unwitting subjects with LSD to see how they would react. What has not yet come to light is that MKULTRA was an intra-agency project. The CIA created new departments within the CIA and fed them steady doses of LSD and other psychoactives to see how the departments would diverge and mutate away from normal departments.
A common misconception I see about Touhou 18 (Unconnected Marketeers, or UM for short) and the character of Chimata Tenkyuu in particular is that the game is about capitalism, or that Chimata herself is a capitalist. This is often done as a joke or meme, such as suggesting Chimata would sell NFTs, but I’ve seen it enough that I feel it needs to be corrected. I will also explain the mythical basis for the character Chimata.
I recently finished reading “Simulation and Simulacra” by Jean Baudrillard. It has been part of a process of reengaging with postmodernism and taking it seriously. Now that I’ve become more and more disillusioned with science, liberal capitalism, and notions like truth, justice, and freedom, I was much more receptive to the ideas in “Simulation” and able to read it without a kneejerk reaction. That is not the same as agreeing with everything in it, but only a statement of my ability to take it seriously to begin with.
An article by Max Berger describes Elon Musk’s accelerating descent into neo-fascism. Based on his complete mismanagement of the company following his acquisition of Twitter, I analyzed his behavior by using a simple, yet powerful hypothesis: that Elon Musk was, is, and remains a fucking idiot. But maybe he is more than that. Berger writes:
Musk’s descent into semi-fascism is as unintentional and incoherent as Donald Trump’s, but no less dangerous, or recognizable.
